Clear aligners

Clear aligner care

Daily wear, cleaning, eating and retainers.

Daily wear

Wear aligners 20 to 22 hours a day. Take them out only to eat, to drink anything other than plain water, and to clean your teeth. Change to each new set on schedule.

Cleaning

  • Brush your teeth before putting aligners back in
  • Rinse aligners in cool water and brush them gently; hot water can warp them
  • Keep them in their case, never wrapped in a napkin

Afterwards

Teeth tend to drift back. Retainers are needed long term, usually worn at night. Replace them if they crack or stop fitting snugly.
