Porcelain veneers

Your veneer journey

The stages from design to bonding, and living with veneers.

The stages

  • Records: photographs, scans and a digital smile design
  • Trial smile: a mock-up to preview shape and length
  • Preparation: conservative shaping where the design needs it, under local anaesthetic, then temporaries
  • Bonding: the laboratory-made ceramics are tried in, adjusted and bonded

Settling in

Your bite and speech may feel different for one to two weeks. Mild sensitivity is common and settles. A review is booked two to four weeks after bonding.

Risks to know

Preparation is permanent. Veneers can chip, come loose or need replacing over time, and gums can change around the edges. Grinding raises these risks, so a night guard is usually recommended.
